25th European Heritage Day

25th European Heritage Day on the theme “Heritage and Education”

The theme of this 25th European Heritage Day is "heritage and education". With the world shaken by a crisis without precedent, transmission is a value that reminds us that what we have inherited from the past can enlighten the future. More than ever, it is vital that we learn to observe, appreciate, and question our heritage. It is fundamentally important that we educate and help to preserve that shared wealth of history.

In 1996, the Principality took part in the European Heritage Days for the first time. Instigated by the Council of Europe, the event is now celebrated in over 50 European countries, welcoming nearly 30 million visitors each year. Since 2018, the event has been organised by the Institute of Heritage, under the aegis of the Department of Cultural Affairs. Its success lies in the enthusiasm shown by participants. This year, their commitment will ensure a wide programme of events and activities, despite the difficult context. We are most grateful to them.

To ensure the safety of all, those taking part in the visits and tours arranged as part of this 25th edition will be required to strictly comply with the applicable health and safety rules.
