Italian Cinema - "Big Deal on Madonna Street", by Mario Monicelli (1958). A cult fifties Italian comedy featuring a gallery of bungling but combative characters, each more magnificent than the last. In partnership with the Dante Alighieri association.
Cine-concert - "The Kid", by Charles Chaplin (1921). One of the ultimate universal works of cinema, in which Chaplin somehow inspires tears of both laughter and sorrow. In partnership with the Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra.
Cine-concert - "The Passion of Joan of Arc", by Carl Theodor Dreyer (1928). Featuring a striking performance by Renée Falconetti, Dreyer's take on the Joan of Arc story is a thing of beauty. In partnership with the Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra.
Movie Tuesdays - "Pain and Glory" by Pedro Almodóvar (2019). An autobiographical tale that glides between past and present, this film hits with all the emotional heft we have come to expect from Almodóvar.
